Career Opportunity - Group Marketing Head – Strategy & Product Management

Our client is a U.S. regional bank which is part of a global financial services company.

Position Summary
The Group Marketing Head – Strategy & Product Management is a new, highly visible position managing a long-term strategic planning process for the Consumer and Business bank transitioning into a cross-functional Group Marketing Head managing a group of products and/or segments for the company (with a focus on the Business banking sector and related product lines).

This top marketing/product management position will work with a major outside consulting firm to do a comprehensive review of the business from pricing, distribution, value proposition, and segment analysis and development. Ultimately, this person will develop product plans, strategies and tactics; monitor market trends, identify appropriate target markets and coordinate product lines through the product life cycle.

Reporting Relationship
The Group Marketing Head – Strategy & Product Management will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of the U.S. regional bank.

Key Responsibilities
The initial scope of this position will have breadth across the entire Consumer and Business Banking spectrum including all lines of business. The position will ultimately transition into a top product management and marketing role focused in the Business Banking sector, and responsibility to develop business plans and strategies to attain corporate sales and profit objectives.

The key responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Conduct comprehensive strategic analysis and provide direction around the key strategic work streams including phone bank service to sales; pricing review, segmentation and value proposition analysis, and branch distribution
  • Manage a cross-functional company wide implementation team for the Consumer and Business Banking strategic plan
  • Develop executional plans including pricing, product and promotional strategies to increase share among our target segments coming out of the strategic review
  • Manage presentations and interface to present key ideas and obtain approvals

Qualifications:
Our client is seeking an experienced marketing executive with prior product management and marketing experience in the Consumer and Business Banking sectors.

Key qualifications and pre-requisites for this position include:

  • Prior successful marketing strategy and product management experience is essential (10 years+).
  • Prior experience in the consumer and business banking is essential (10+ years).
  • Successful strategic planning and strategic marketing leadership skills, as well as analytical skills, are essential parts of the background required in this position; prior strategy consulting firm experience would be a plus.
  • Strong leadership and change management skills and proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Drive, build, lead and manage regional marketing organizations effectively in a complex matrix environment, assuring that marketing personnel gain traction, credibility, and contribute to profitably building PCA businesses and geographic territories.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, confidence, energy, and “gravitas" required to gain internal respect and build consensus with superiors, peers, and subordinates.
  • Excellent communication skills including oral/written and presentation skills; proficiency in preparation and presentation of analytical reports and documents regarding operational status, achievement, and performance.

Education:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing or related discipline (requirement). A Master’s degree is desirable.

Compensation:
As our client is seeking an outstanding individual for this important new position, they are offering an attractive compensation package including base salary, discretionary cash bonus, long-term incentives and personal benefits.
