Overview:
The role of Senior Vice President, Integrated Client Solutions is to provide leadership and mentoring to designated account teams in order to retain and grow business with global pharmaceutical and US domestic brand teams to achieve specified targets, as well as identifying and proposing key potential clients to pursue for new business opportunities. This will be achieved by leading the development and presentation of well-focused proposals based on a thorough understanding of the client's scientific and marketing communication needs and through excellent professional relationships with key client personnel. Candidates must have a comprehensive understanding and experience with communications mixes in relation to strategy, planning, and tactics in the global industry of healthcare communications.

Reporting Relationship:
The SVP, Integrated Client Solutions will report directly to the President of the agency and will be a member of the senior leadership team.

Location: The position will be located at our client’s office in New York City.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Secure new business opportunities with clients in the health care industry
  • Maintain awareness of the current and future communication needs of target client companies, as well as other sister agencies in North America to help capture potential business leads across the holding company group of companies, as well as throughout the global network
  • Prepare medical communication proposals and presentation materials and to present these to clients in competitive pitch environments
  • Work closely with colleagues in order to develop winning ideas and initiatives to recommend to clients
  • Lead account team activities in terms of strategy development, and work as part of the team to ensure high quality timely delivery
  • Undertake regular reviews with senior clients to determine satisfaction with account team performance and delivery
  • Champion quality improvement initiatives within the agency
  • Conceptualize new products and services, and develop and implement those identified by the management group as being priority projects
  • Work with team members to prepare budgets for proposed projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve the profitability of existing accounts.
  • Lead negotiations with client procurement personnel, as required
  • Promote creativity and innovation throughout the agency with the objective of improving standards of quality, customer focus and profitability
  • Maintain excellent awareness of new developments in medical communications delivery
  • Brainstorm and create proposals to grow current business; summarize scientific literature and trade publications in preparation of new business proposals; create presentations in PowerPoint
  • Participate in new business proposals and pitches, as needed
  • Identify accurate and up-to-date business intelligence information
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitor agencies
  • Liaise constructively with other managers in the network to cultivate an environment of customer focus and support the strategic objectives of the company

Experience Required:

  • 10-15 years in pharmaceutical strategic marketing roles; able to provide strategic insights to move brands in the market; strong presentation skills; comfortable working with high-level client personnel while managing an internal team
  • Knowledge and experience of the scientific communication and marketing needs of the pharmaceutical market
  • Experience in pharmaceutical strategic marketing roles as well as communications agency roles.
  • Experience managing two or more direct reports.

General/Special Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of full communications mix with strong emphasis on strategy, planning, and tactics
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with key senior managers at pharmaceutical/health care companies
  • Excellent communications, selling, and presentation skills
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills
  • Conflict management skills
  • Significant travel within the US and some international travel
  • Strong levels of creativity, initiative, and analytical skills

Equipment/Software Used: Microsoft Office XP with intermediate skills at PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.

Working Conditions: Sit for long periods working at computer with moderate noise level.

Normal Working Hours & Days: Monday – Friday; 9:00AM – 5:30PM or agreed to FlexTime. Hours and days may vary based on business needs.

Education:
Required: BA/BS degree or equivalent
Desirable: BA/BS degree in life sciences, business, and MBA and/or advanced scientific degree (e.g., MD, PhD)
