About Card Services
Card Services is a key contributor to our client’s product platform, playing an integral role in the firm’s powerful banking franchise. Our client’s Card Services business strives toward its vision of creating lifelong and engaged relationships with customers by being a trusted provider of financial services. They are a market leader in card issuing and merchant acquiring business in the US delivering credit cards and related payment products and services.
The Role
As a worldwide leader in financial services, our client continually seeks to build and grow relationships with its new and current customers through products and services that meet their ongoing needs. To realize this strategy, our client has opened a search for the position of General Manager – Mass Affluent business, reporting to the President of the Mass Affluent segment in Card Services. This represents a significant leadership opportunity within our client’s organization. This key role will drive the growth and profitability of a multi-billion dollar portfolio comprised of a national customer base. This leader is a critical decision maker and a key driver in realizing our client’s vision of developing lifelong engaged relationships with its customers.
Responsibilities
- Primary ownership of profit and loss within the Mass Affluent businesses
- Development and execution of business strategy, including identification and assessment of target market, consumer needs, and product solutions; along with plans to sustain and build the business
- Development and delivery of product positioning and branding strategy; including product value proposition, consumer and customer messaging, along with tactics to establish competitive differentiation and brand value
- Development and achievement of multi-year financial plan, including budgets and forecasts, with ability to understand and make decisions related to key financial drivers and their impact on the P&L and balance sheet, incorporating insights from scenario-based planning and forecasting
- Development, delivery, and management of the Mass Affluent product; including interrelationship with Blueprint and other features, and the positioning, pricing, and continuous improvement of the product
- Strategy and tactics aimed at increasing existing customer product usage and retention, including efforts aimed and building sales and balances and increasing customer loyalty; through multiple channels and customer touch points – while incorporating investment criteria and decision processes and risk management disciplines
- Strategy and tactics aimed at attracting new customers; through multiple channels and customer touch points – while incorporating investment criteria and decision processes and risk management disciplines
- Strategy and tactics aimed at delivering the desired customer experience and resultant levels of quality and satisfaction, from the initiation of the relationship and throughout the customer lifecycle, including continuous improvement of the experience based on insights from consumers, customers, and servicing teams
- Strategy and tactics aimed at developing the Mass Affluent brand and its relationship with other brands to drive positive brand attributes; achieved through ongoing brand management along with marketing and advertising efforts aimed at brand development
- Application of rules, policies, and regulations as they apply to the specific business and product, pricing, risk, and customer management dimensions
- Collaboration and cooperation of cross-functional groups, based on a core understanding of the function and its content, to include Branding and Advertising, Compliance, Consumer Practices, Customer Service, Finance, Legal, Marketing Services, Operations, Public Affairs, Public Relations, Quality, Risk, and Technology
- Management of Mass Affluent team, including hiring, development, and evaluation of team members
Qualifications
- 15+ years general management and leadership experience
- A strong analytical acumen with demonstrated experience in brand marketing.
- Proven track record to sustain profitable businesses in a highly competitive environment through marketing strategies and product development
- Exceptional leadership acumen to build great teams and attract top talent
- Strategic thinker with a passion for creativity and innovation
- Demonstrated ability to lead and implement change in a fast paced and complex environment
- Proven leadership and influencing skills and ability to collaborate across a highly matrix team
- Financial Services experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred

As our client is seeking an outstanding candidate for this GM position, they are offering an excellent compensation package including base salary, incentive bonus, long-term incentives, and company benefits.
