Overview
Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this position leads our client’s advertising strategy including planning, developing, directing and evaluating all advertising activities to support the marketing and branding strategies and goals.

Reporting Relationship:
The VP, Advertising will report to the Chief Marketing Officer (“CMO”) of the company and will be a member of the senior marketing leadership team.

Location:
The position will be located at our client’s headquarters office in Hartford, CT.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Partners with business and marketing leaders to develop and implement advertising strategy, plans and operations in support of marketing plans and objectives and within established budgets.
  • Provides guidance to management on all aspects of advertising.
  • Reviews the effectiveness of advertising efforts. Responsible for development and progress of budget and the effective use of resources.
  • Responsible for the direction and development of corporate-wide advertising programs and exercises complete responsibility for all advertising activities, functions, and staff.
  • Coordinates with business and marketing leaders to develop, execute, and measure/evaluate integrated marketing communications programs across all media types.
  • Oversees the review, selection and management of outside agency and vendor relationships.

Job Dimensions

Number of associates: 1-2 FTEs
Financial responsibility: Advertising/Media Budget – $125 million
Impact on the organization: Drive corporate advertising, branding, integrated marketing communications, online customer acquisition, and other branding and communications initiatives to rival “best in class” category competitors; champion integrated marketing across all business units within the company.

Background (Required Experience, Education Level, and Competency Profile)

Education: BA/BS required; MBA degree preferred

Experience:

  • Senior professional with a minimum of 15+ years in corporate/consumer brand advertising and/or in a leadership role in an advertising agency working with Fortune 100/leading brand companies.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of advertising, including creative, media, production, and related functions.
  • Strong digital marketing communications experience including online branding, customer acquisition, and customer experience.
  • Strong integrated communications experience across all media types.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively as well as the ability to execute and effectively drive results. Experience with developing and managing budgets.
  • Resourcefulness; ability to influence and collaborate with both internal team members and external partners; excellent communication and presentation skills; must be action-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities.
